Jenkintown Clothesline Walking Tour

Throughout June more than 40 storefronts are participating in out Clothesline Display.

This project is to honor Abington Art Center’s 70th Anniversary and its beginning with temporary clothesline art displays and was celebrated as part of First Wednesday promotions. Stroll the town to see art displays from Jenkintown students, Mamacita members, area artists, and our participating merchants’ creativity.

Mobile Planetarium comes to Jenkintown

A very exciting event! This Mobile Planetarium arrives on Friday, April 24th at the Jenkintown Elementary School Gym and features movies on Astronomy, Space, Earth Science, Biology, History and Geology. An Omnimax theater here in Jenkintown. Beginning at 5:45 pm there is a new show every 30 minutes until 9:15 pm. Use this Registration Form or show up and Walk-Ins will be accepted. All residents of Jenkintown are welcome to attend! $3 – Adults & $2 – Children 12 & under (per show)

Brunch and Movie Screening: Who Does She Think She Is?

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a Bruch and a Private Viewing of Who Does She Think She Is? on Sunday, May 3rd at the historic Hiway Theatre.
11 am – 1pm Brunch and Screening.
1pm- 3pm Mimosa Reception at Joshua’s featuring work fy MamaCita members.
All proceeds benefit the Hiway Theatre.

From the producing team, that won an Academy Award for Born Into Brothels, comes Who Does She Think She Is?, a film that examines some of the most pressing issues of our time: parenting & work, partenring & independence, economics & art.

Philly Cooks features Joshua’s David Hall

Joshua’s Café & Catering participates in the Philadelphia Magazine-sponsored PHILLY COOKS! CHEFS WEEK, February 23-37, 2009

Philadelphia Magazine is sponsoring the 9th Annual Philly Cooks! Chefs Week during the week of February 23 through 27, 2009. Joshua’s Café & Catering is one of over 40 restaurants from the Philadelphia area that has been selected to participate in the Philly Cooks! Chefs Week activities which include the Chefs Competition, Chefs Tastings and a Chefs Table.

Philly Cooks! Chefs Week launches on Monday, February 23 with the Chefs Competition at The Shops at Liberty Place from 2:00-5:00 pm. Chefs from over 40 area restaurants will compete for Dish of the Year, Best Entrée, Best Appetizer, and Best Dessert. Joshua’s Café & Catering Chef/Owner David Hall will compete in the categories of Best Appetizer/Dish of the Year.

Philly Cooks! Chefs Week also features two dining options during the week. Chefs Tastings will be offered at Joshua’s Café & Catering on Monday, February 23 and Wednesday through Friday, February 25-27 for one seating at 7 pm. Joshua’s Chef/Owner David Hall will serve a three course prix fixe menu for two for $75.00 with suggested food/wine pairings. The menu will feature dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients from local Pennsylvania farms. One of the offerings will be Joshua’s signature dish, Seared Jumbo Scallops in Ginger Cream with Crispy Leeks.

The second dining option is the Chefs Table. On Tuesday, February 24 at 7:00 pm, a group table will enjoy a six course prix fixe dinner designed, prepared and presented by Joshua’s Chef/Owner David Hall. Like the Chefs Tastings, this menu also features dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients from local farms such as Organic Micro Greens topped with Roasted Baby Beets and Toasted Almonds dressed with Blood Orange Vinaigrette and a sampler of local artisanal cheeses. The cost of dinner is $65.00 per person and a portion of all proceeds will go to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

Sing-A-Long Mama Mia benefits the Hiway: Feb. 15th

The hit movie musical Mamma Mia! will be back at the Hiway for just one night in a special sing-a-long format with Philly’s own Chumley and Carlota Ttendant leading the evening’s festivities. Join us on Sunday, February 15th at 7:00 pm.

Fun for the family, this movie event is like no other and includes a dessert reception, a dance contest, and party favors. (We will also be picking the winning raffle ticket for our Tuscany Villa Vacation raffle that night!) Tickets are $40 each, or only $35 each if you’re a member.

All proceeds benefit The Hiway Theatre and will be used to support programs and services.
