Jenkintown Clean Up Day

Sunday, May 18th, 2008
May 31, 2008
9:00 amto12:00 pm

Trash is ugly, but it does more than spoil the natural beauty of our environment. Trash and pollutants leaching from our trash can enter our storm water system and our drinking water. Garbage also causes injuries and harms wildlife, and it’s removal can cost tax dollars that could be put to better uses. These are EXCELLENT reasons to volunteer for the Jenkintown’s Clean-up Day.

On Saturday, May 31, Green Jenkintown will organize a Clean-Up Day from 9am – 12 pm rain or shine. and will meet at the Gazebo in Town Square. Please wear gloves and protective clothing. For further information contact Elizabeth Boyd at elizabeth.boyd@greenjenkintown.org

The Jenkintown Library Celebrates a New Look

Friday, May 9th, 2008
May 18, 2008
1:00 amto4:00 am

The Jenkintown Library is celebrating its new look. After extensive renovations to the oldest section of the building, more than just a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting greet visitors. The main room is spacious and open with an airy lightness. The beauty of the building is easy to see and wonderful to behold. The circulation desk has been moved closer to its original location. There are new computer workstations and wireless service. One of the oldest libraries in continuous service in the area, the Jenkintown Library, founded in 1803, has moved into the 21st Century with new technology. Yet the Library remains committed to the personal and friendly atmosphere it has always provided.

Many people in the Jenkintown community and beyond helped to make the renovations possible. The Library would like to recognize all those who made these changes possible and all of those who supported the Library during the dusty days of renovation. Come celebrate the Library’s New Look with music, activities, and refreshments on Sunday, May 18, from 1:00 to 4:00. The Jenkintown Library is located at 460 Old York Road. For more information the Library can be reached at 215-884-0593.
