ALS TradeUp!

In an effort to raise funds for ALS, resident Ed Foley has initiated a ALS TradeUp. He invites the public to swap some stuff, and help find a cure for ALS. Here’s how it works: make an offer for something currently up for grabs and someone can turn around and trade your thing for some bigger and better thing — keep on trading up until July 2009. Whatever the trade up has is then is auctioned off, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association.

What’s ALS?
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, usually fatal, neurodegenerative disease caused by the degeneration of motor neurons, the nerve cells in the central nervous system that control voluntary muscle movement. In the United States, the condition is often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association provides support and resources for ALS patients, their families, and caregivers living in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. The ALS Association is the only national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS.
