Light Up the Square

On Wednesday, December 3rd Jenkintown Square will be filled with lights and people as the tree on the square will be lit and a special guest from the North Pole will arrive to kick off the holiday season. The community is invited to join in the festivities presented by the Jenkintown Rec. Board.

The fun begins at the Hiway Theatre at 5PM where they will be showing the holiday classic The Grinch (30 min cartoon) for free! At 6PM in the Town Square at Leedom and Greenwood, festivities to include:
Tree Lighting, musical performances by Jenkintown School’s Mini Singers & Jenkintown Brass, find the Snowflake Storewide Treasure Hunt, Gift Certificate Giveaways, Cookies, Hot Chocolate, and the arrival of Santa!

The JCA invites the community to a Snowflake Hunt. Be on the lookout for hidden snowflake ornaments in participating Jenkintown shops and eateries. Once you or your child finds the snowflake, your passport will be stamped. Collect three stamps and enter the passport at the JCA booth in Town Square during the tree lighting event. Later that night passports will be drawn to win Jenkintown gift certificates. Passports are available at participating stores and at the JCA booth. Get into the holiday spirt while shopping, sampling goodies, meeting friends & neighbors … and remember, keep your eyes open for snowflakes!

Children’s Matinee at the Hiway

Holocaust Film Series at the Hiway

On Wednesday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 19 at 7PM the Hiway hosts the CJHSA’s Holocaust Film Series. Special screenings of noteworthy films with Q&A discussion following the showing.

Clean Up Day

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

On Sunday, November 9th from 1 - 3 PM, come out to make our playground clean and safe. The Jenkintown Elementary Playground on West and Florence needs your help! Please bring your shovel, rake, gloves, cordless drill and wheelbarrow. Kids are welcome to come and help with their parents.

Fact: If every family that used the playground gave back just one hour a year, we would have more than enough help!
