Sponsor a Snowflake

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

“Sponsor a Snowflake,” a new holiday program spearheaded by the JCA, invites local businesses and residents to help offset the rising cost of a popular holiday tradition – the decoration of shining snowflakes that adorn telephone poles along Old York Road and Jenkintown’s Town Square.

The program, which seeks a $100 donation for each snowflake (there are 32 in all), will help defray escalating installations costs, which currently total $3,500. Snowflake sponsors will be recognized in a public relations campaign implemented throughout the holiday season. Businesses and residents interested in sponsoring a snowflake can call the JCA at 215-517-5507 or email us at JCA@jenkintown.net.

Jazz & Brew Fest a Success

Friday, September 30th, 2005

The JCA would like to thank the community of Jenkintown for its recent support of our 6th Annual Jenkintown Jazz Fest on Sunday, September 18th. This year’s event was a huge success and once again, we were very fortunate to have had beautiful weather.

I would like to also thank our sponsors, as the JCA would not be able to bring you the sounds of Jon Faddis without them: Abington Bank, Bryner Chevrolet, LPL Financial, Wachovia Securities, Jenkintown Kiwanis Club, the 5-County Arts Fund, Comcast Cable, and Jenkintown Business Graphics. A special thanks goes to all the members of Jenkintown’s Borough Council, especially Chuck Whitney, President and Mike Montanaro, Vice-President, and the Jenkintown Borough Staff – Ed Geissler, Borough Manager, and Meghan O’Brien, Assistant Manager. Their support and assistance in making the event run smoothly made our Jazz Fest and Brew Tent a success.

As you may know, volunteerism is key to the JCA’s accomplishments. I offer special thanks to our Chairperson – Jenny Adams, owner of Blue Body and Home, who leads the group of volunteers every year without complaint. Her committee members are – Donna Lucchesi, Allyson Dobbs, Cia Guerin, Joe Quigley and Eric Nemeyer – who make it all come together so easily.

New to the Jazz Fest was our first Brew Fest, also located in the Town Square. Guests sampled brews from local favorites such as Legacy, Yards, Penn, Manayunk, Olde Saratoga, O’Hara’s, Rock Bottom, and Troegs to name a few of the 12 breweries in attendance for this great event. This will be an annual event so mark your calendars for next years Jazz and Brew Fest slated for September 10, 2006.

Thank you again for your continued support of the JCA and the great things we do to make your community a place you want to live, shop and dine. If you would like to help us with all the exciting things happening in Jenkintown, consider joining one of our many committees: promotions and marketing, events (holiday, Jazz and Brew Fest,) or our newly formed Business Improvement committee. For more information, call the JCA at 215.517.5507 or us at www.Jenkintown.net.

2005 Event merchandise is still available and will be posted on our website so don’t forget to add this year’s t-shirt to your Jazz Fest collection. Please visit www.jenkintown.net for details. Our website will keep you up-to-date on event information and new happenings in Jenkintown business community.

I look forward to seeing you at one of the many JCA sponsored events.

Sincerely,

Dr. Stuart B. Tollen
